The Best Italian Restaurant In Johannesburg

The Ultimate Checklist to the Best Italian Restaurant in Johannesburg.

Living in Johannesburg, a diverse financial and business centre influenced by many European and local cultures, we have learned that food brings people together. Have you ever been to a place, where English breakfast, French patisserie, Thai food, Mexican, Indian, Zulu, Sushi, Portuguese, Lebanese, Greek, Italian, and more are all served a stone throw away from each other? Well, this place is Johannesburg. The different tastes, aromas, and offerings can be an overwhelming event even for an experienced traveller.

Before arriving in Johannesburg, we had visited a few other countries, but we did not expect a multi-cultural vibe like that in Jozi. It is like an on-going world convention, all the time. It took us a while to get accustomed to the local social outing’s scene. For after-work drinks, go to an English or Irish pub. For meat go African game grill houses and Portuguese restaurants. For light meals and desserts, French patisseries. For delicious food and wine, Italian. Any other type of restaurant you can visit to spice your food-loving experience with variety.

Catering to discerning taste, we offer a variety of dishes, including meat, fish, and the customary Italian fare.

In the opulent world of offers, what do we look for? First and foremost, safe location. In terms of menu choices, something like: Classic Italian food, meat, fish and a good variety of vegetarian dishes. All things considered; the restaurant interior should be in the typical fashionable Italian style. Fresh juices, wine selection, and privacy are part of the listed requirements.

Armed with Google tools, we discovered one of the most attractive entertainment venues on the African continent, Montecasino. The venue boasts their very own highly trained security unit which guarantees safety. With a peace of mind, we were ready to explore this popular landmark.

…When one of the managers shared with me that they hosted Prince Albert of Monaco, I was not surprised that a fine person with royal blood will choose ‘Donatellas’.

Montecasino is an incredible fusion of a small Italian medieval village and Las Vegas. We took our time to wander around and search for a good restaurant. Donatellas grabbed our attention with its modern and stylish interior. You do not have to strain to see the strong fashion influence. Through an article in Google and our presence, we read and experienced how this venue dealt with Covid-19, ensuring both comfort and safety to their patrons. We were left pleasantly surprised by the wide range of dishes in the menu. All that we had hoped to see was there, and more.

Stunningly newly renovated, we cater for functions, parties, and conferences.

Starters and salads for the table, superb main course for everyone, no matter if you are vegetarian, on strict chicken & fish diet, or just a foodie. The ‘Kleftiko’, a roasted Greek-style lamb dish, fell right off the bone.

My personal choice for the final was Italian kisses with a shot of Jagermeister on the side. The food arrived quickly and service was good.

Most impressively, not only I, but all dinner guests were completely satisfied, something not easily achieved in the cuisine industry.

The tradition of taking VIP business partners to dinner is an important part of building a strong business relationship. Donatellas is an excellent venue to do just that with its’ more private lounge area.
