01 World Rainbow Mountains

Seeing images travellers might all think world rainbow mountains are from Mars or another planet.

In fact, these strange exotic scenes are on Earth. If you have the opportunity to see one of the colourful mountains, you will wonder if they were created by a wizard. It is hard to believe that there are such amazing places in nature.

Coloured rainbows are the result of mixing sandstone with various minerals pressed together approximately 24 million years ago. Here the comment is superfluous, all in all, we just look at and do not believe it!

World Rainbow mountains we will roll with the rainbow-coloured mountains in Zhangye. The dramatic scene represented by this series of rainbow mountains is a geological uniqueness whose formation takes millions of years.

Each layer is formed by minerals and rocks that look dramatically separated to resemble a giant rainbow of magenta, maroon and greenish-yellow. Giant arc rock in Danxia Geological Park!

Since becoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009, Danxia has become much more famous than it was a few decades ago. The landscape is formed by red terrestrial sand rocks and conglomerate rocks and is characterized by red rock walls and cliffs.

The Danxia Mountains are in an interstellar valley in southern Nanling. The entire mountain that has a reddish peak consists of 380 peaks of rocks, rock fortifications, stone walls, and stone piles.

The main peak has a height of 618 meters. While the main destination is the rainbow mountains at Danxia Landform Geological Park, travellers can also visit other “must visit” locations such as:

the Wooden Tower of the Sui Dynasty, Shandan Buddhist Temple, Buddhist Temple, and Shandan horse ranch, as well as the gigantic Buddhist temple.

The best season to visit Danxia is from June to September.

Live with no excuses and travel with no regrets.

Next from the world rainbow mountains is In southern Iceland. At the foot of the Hekla volcano chilled lava has formed a hypnotic, colourful pattern that can be observed from July to September. Pink, brown, green, yellow, blue, purple, black, and white – nature has not saved its brightest colours for these mountains. Iceland, Landmannalaugar region, climb on volcanic rock and the rare view will open before you.

Located in the Highlands this gorgeous mountain range was created by a volcanic eruption back in the 1400s.

It is so beautiful, has plenty of wonderful hikes, a campsite, and is totally worth a visit. It is recommended to join a guided tour to experience the views, lakes and ponds scattered intermittently, which are not easy to quickly discover on your own.

The mountains are unique and colourful. Landmannalaugar is a gorgeous place and incredibly unique.

It is difficult to find anything close to it in terms of uniqueness and overall mystique appearance. One of the best to visit in Iceland. Time required is at least 4-5 hours. There are thermal springs and free parking available.

Colorful Mountains Of Tabriz, Iran

by Wanderlust

Breath-taking colourful mountains and hills are one of the magnificent, natural wonders of Iran.

Many tourists travel to Iran unaware of this natural beauty, but nature photography enthusiasts and visitors, should take a road trip to Tabriz to experience these trippy mountains for themselves and have an adventure off the beaten track. The Aladaglar Mountains is a work of art by mother nature.

A good place to start your journey would be the Dome of Soltaniyeh, a UNESCO-listed site with a glowing turquoise dome, before moving on to the numerous attractions of Zanjan.

Continuing northwest and nearing the village of Bostanabad, some 60 km outside Tabriz, is when the surrounding starts to change to picturesque landscapes, painted with hues of copper, red, green, orange, and yellow.

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.

One of the intrinsic wonders of Sinai, the Coloured Canyon in Nuweiba, can be reached from Taba. The lively canyon is a maze of sandstone rocks in hues of yellow, purple, red, magenta, and gold reaching up in some places a height of 40 meters. It is a labyrinth of majestic rocks. The canyon is almost 800 meters long. If you decide to explore it, first you have some climbing to do, walking uphill and getting sand on your hands. Apart from one or two obstacles, it is a fairly easy hike.

The uneven forms and height of the rocks sometimes make climbing necessary, so be prepared and try to get there as early as possible, not only because of the weather but also to avoid the crowds.

Although you might agree that the magic of the place is best enjoyed when you are on your own, you will have to take a guided tour to the Canyon. Many hotels and tour operators in Taba organize day tours to this amazing destination.

Vinicunca, Ausangate Mountains In Peru.

by Wanderlust

Located in the central Andes, the Rainbow Mountain of Peru has become an alternative attraction to the famed Machu Picchu.

Travellers should be physically prepared to climb up to 17,000 feet above sea level – a difficult task for inexperienced hikers who are short on time and want to see it all in a day.

It is recommended that travellers take longer tours to acclimatize and to also visit other destinations like Ausangate mountain, local communities, and to take a moment to appreciate the wildlife in order to get the best out of the trip.

Take a day trip on the mountain trek from Cusco.

Great things never come from comfort zones.

As can be seen, next from the world rainbow mountains is Serranía de Hornocal. This is limestone formation called Yacoraite that extends from Salta, Argentina, through the Argentine Quebrada de Humahuaca and then through the Bolivian Altiplano to Peru. The height will demand all of your strength, with an altitude excess of 4,300 meters.

The geometry is featuring a repeatedly inverted V zigzagging as if electricity had taken part in that whimsical skyline, it is magnetic. Best is to get there is by car from the City of Humahuaca. A local guide is a must. The road from Hornocal has a lot of bends and the limestone formation is not far. It goes constantly up and is accompanied by unspoiled fields where the guanacos run free.

By any large Quebrada de Humahuaca is a must-visit for both. First for the famous world rainbow mountains landscape. Second for the historic Inca caravan road running through the region.

Follow the Rio Grande along the ancient Inca Road and you will find yourself standing right in front of that incredible fold in the Humahuaca Gorge.

Antelope Canyon, Arizona, USA

by Wanderlust

Antelope Canyon was formed by the erosion of Navajo Sandstone as a result of flash flooding and many sub-aerial processes. We chose to finish our world rainbow mountains article with this astounding destination.

Our choice was influenced by Sky Matthews and his extraordinary earth image below, and the story behind the image.

“In honour of Earth Day 2017, this is the classic “Monument Valley” view inside Antelope Canyon AZ, so-called because the silhouetted peak shape resembles the buttes in Monument Valley. I have been holding off on posting this one for a while. The colours, textures and shapes in Antelope are extraordinary.

I can think of no more fitting tribute to our beautiful planet, even if it is a picture so frequently captured. It is a tricky shot to capture because Antelope is so crowded, that you have only a minute or so to get the shot.

When you first look at it, it’s not so obvious what you are looking at, you are shooting upwards at an awkward angle, and finally, you are shooting into a combination of deep shadow and hard direct light.”

All visits to Antelope Canyon are through one of several licensed tour operators. It is not possible to visit the Canyon independently.
